Peking lacquer comb 1920s

Peking Lacquer comb.
This kind of lacquer ware was a very famous craft in Peking, China and is still practiced today. Unlike bowls where the lacquer was applied to a wooden or cloth base this object is solid lacquer. The craft workers carve the lacquer into different objects, such as boxes or vases, etc.
This is a comb, made using the same craft. Comparing this comb with other, similar items, in different collections we can see little difference between the patterns. They have probably all come from the same workshop in Beijing.
